Health Services
The Health department is headed by the Health Manager whose core mandate is to oversee the delivery of health services to the population and management of Public Health within the City through, Policy Implementation and Planning, Human Resource Management, Quality Assurance, Coordination and Integration of Health Services, Disease and Epidemic Control, Monitoring and Evaluation of City Health Services, Advocacy for Health Services and Health Systems Research.
MISSION
To provide the highest possible level of health services to all people in Uganda through delivery of promotive, preventive, curative, palliative and rehabilitative health services at all level
DIVISION HEALTH SERVICES
Each of the City Divisions is headed by a Principal Medical Officer of Health who carries out delegated functions of the City Health Manager. All divisions report to the City Health Manager who also periodically conducts support supervision to the health facilities in the City divisions.
Currently, two Officers have been assigned to coordinate health activities in those Divisions on behalf of the Health Manager and the Town Clerk respectively.
- Improved performance especially in the Primary Health Care facilities
- Infrastructure development to upgrade three health center IIs to health center IIIs
- Support Supervision has been given to the health workers in both public and private health facilities
- Increase in the number of health centers from five (5) to thirteen (13) following annexing two sub-counties from Masaka District
- Prepare the City Health Sub-program Strategic plan
- Prepare the City Health Sub-program Strategic plan
- Prepare annual plans
- Co-ordinate all stakeholders, including development partners at all levels in the City
- Oversee operational research and any sector specific studies in the district
- Monitor plan implementation
- Mobilize resources for the district health programmes
- Promote staff welfare
